Nick Payne - Operations ManagerExperience 25 years
I was first introduced to Outdoor Education during my time at The Army Adventure Training School where I cofounded adventure therapy programs for children with intensive behavioural needs. I also worked as program coordinator in intensive need Youth Work, developing programs for children in out of home care. I've run expedition programs for schools, white water kayaking and raft guiding then joined YMCA in 2004 as the Expedition Coordinator and in 2010 became the Operations Manager. The key to my longevity in the industry has been continuing to live the adventure in my personal life. I have been part of white water expeditions with in Australia, Nepal and Tibet. I hope to continue to inspire others to push their personal boundaries and overcome adversity with perseverance and tenacity.
Annette Lee - Program Manager, Camp YarramundiOutdoor Education - 18 years
A love of the outdoors led me into the Outdoor Industry in the late 1990's. I have been fortunate enough to work both in Australia and overseas and have worked for numerous values/mission driven organisations in the Outdoor Industry and this is what attracted me to the Y and Camp Yarramundi.
I enjoy seeing the impact that outdoor education programs can have on participants and have been fortunate enough to see many outdoor instructors develop their skills in the industry as well.
Ruth Hodgson - Program Manager, Camp YarramundiExperience 19 years
A passion for the outdoors, people and personal growth has seen me working in the Outdoor Industry for nearly 20 years. I have enjoyed working in a diverse range of roles including leading teams through remote communities in India, coordinating outdoor programs for young people with high needs, facilitating therapeutic outdoor programs in jails, teaching in educational settings and running my own outdoor guiding business.
Designing and running programs for individuals and communities to learn and grow is what inspires me and my role at the Y allows me to create these amazing opportunities for people from all walks of life. It is a truly unique place where people gain skills and have experiences which make a real and positive difference in their lives.
Simone Chapple - Catering CoordinatorExperience 6 years
I've worked in fine dining restaurants and enjoyed the experiences. As catering coordinator at Camp Yarramundi this role has provided some amazing challenges and experiences to cook bulk food and pursue a career that I love. It brings me great joy cooking for so many students, teachers and visitors plus share my love of food with everyone that walks into our dining hall.
